Summary:

Under the supervision of a Certified School Psychologist, the School Psychologist Intern will participate in all activities and roles within the School Psychologist’s purview, such as but not limited to: a member of school problem-solving teams; assist in child find activities; complete educational assessments of students suspected of having or who have a disability; assess, interpret and report evaluation findings; collaborate with administrators, staff, and families to support student success.

 

Description

  • Participates in child study, PBIS, department and problem-solving meetings, as requested.
  • Assist in the completion of Special Education evaluations
  • Makes recommendations on ways to assist a student referred to him/her for evaluation or observation.
  • Participates in crisis counseling and intervention as needed.
  • Assists in developing school or district practices and procedures related to area of specialty.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Completion of all required coursework leading up to the internship component from a regionally accredited School Psychology program
  • Successful completion of a School Psychology practicum experience

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from the community, regulatory agencies or staff members.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and ledgers.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Position requires sustained periods of sitting and working on computer and office equipment.  

Position requires standing and walking throughout buildings.  

Position involves frequent lifting up to 20 pounds and occasional lifting up to 40 pounds.  

Position involves listening, speaking clearly and visual acuity.  

Position involves frequent repetitive action on a keyboard.
