Summary:
Hudsonville’s Middle School Track Coach is responsible for overseeing the athletic team. The mission of Hudsonville Public Schools is to educate, challenge, and inspire all learners to become contributing, responsible members of a global society.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organize and work with Athletic Director to schedule the sport season
- Conduct tryouts at the beginning of the season
- Lead team practices and conditioning sessions
- Coordinate travel plans for away performances and competitions
- Possess a great love of the sport and a high interest in helping individuals reach their highest potential
- Good role model for student-athletes
- Current knowledge of rules, fundamentals, teamwork and the ability to relate to and teach teenage students
- Strong commitment to building a successful program for student-athletes
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Select, instruct, and coach the team through the season at practices and competitions/games
- Create a positive learning experience for all members of the team
- Maintain all records, statistics, and awards information
- Maintain ongoing communication with players, parents, and media

Education and/or Experience:
Required:
- Evidence of expertise in sport
- Preferably previous coaching or history playing sport
Preferred:
- Previous coaching experience or history playing sport
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret communication including emails, letters, spreadsheet and forms. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from the community, regulatory agencies or staff members.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate basic mathematical formulas; add and subtract totals; multiply and divide; determine percentages and decimals; spatial aptitude to inspect length and weight of objects
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
