Hours: 7am - 3pm
Summary: Position is responsible for maintaining order and discipline, preventing crime, investigating student violations of school board policies, and detaining students violating the law or school board policies on school property or at a school-sponsored event Responsible solely for ensuring the safety, security, and welfare of all students, staff, and visitors assigned to the school Position assists the administrative staff with enforcing policies and procedures for safe and orderly schools at the building level Position rotates duties among the North or South end of the District throughout the day or week traveling via personal or district vehicle
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Patrols and monitors assigned areas of the school buildings, grounds and parking lots to deter, detect, report, and stop violations of the law and/or board policies
- Detects, investigates, and reports unauthorized or suspicious persons, vehicles, and activities
- Assists administrators and staff in crisis and emergency situations
- Supervises and directs pupil movement
- Notifies the administrative staff, police, fire department, or other appropriate authorities of security or emergency situations
- Conducts searches (on person, locker, bags, or car) when directed to do so and appropriate
- Investigates student violations of school board policies and prepares reports of the results
- Works with school administrators and law enforcement officials in handling serious student offenses and law violations
- Testifies in court and at School Board Disciplinary hearings as required
- Assists with all emergency drills and planning of emergency response
- Member of the Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT)
- Supervises classroom behavior in lieu of faculty
- Maintains security records, logs, and reports
- Attends and successfully completes all staff development training as required by state law or directed by the Student Safety Director
- Reads and responds to email communications
- Models non discriminatory practices in all activities
- Operates and is licensed to drive a vehicle safely in all traffic conditions
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior law enforcement and/or security experience
Preferred:
- Associate's degree or higher
- Additional training and/or education
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret communication including emails, letters, spreadsheet and forms Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from the community, regulatory agencies or staff members
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate basic mathematical formulas; add and subtract totals; multiply and divide; determine percentages and decimals; spatial aptitude to inspect length and weight of objects
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
