Description
- Provide specially designed instruction, according to students’ individualized education plans.
- Coordinates with general education teachers and related service providers to ensure each child’s offer of a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) is implemented.
- Coordinate support staff schedules to provide appropriate support, modifications, and accommodations to students throughout the school day. Maintain professional communication with support staff to ensure their understanding of daily routines and delivery of services.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, provides a high level of engagement and promotes a culture of respect, high expectations, and high care.
- Provide health and medical support, when necessary, in accordance to individual health care plans.
- Maintain a high level of communication with parents and families to support home-to-school partnerships.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
- Collect, maintain, and analyze progress monitoring measures. Effectively respond to formative and summative assessments to support student growth.
- Engage in professional development, departmental meetings, and staff meetings to support collaboration among teams and ongoing professional learning.
Education and/or Experience:
- BA/BS degree from a college or university.
- Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate
- Cognitive Impairment Special Education Endorsement
